Merit-Based Scholarships
We recognize outstanding academic achievement by offering merit-based scholarships of up to £4,000 to eligible international students applying for undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
How to Apply
Applying for our scholarships is simple—no separate application is required. If you meet the eligibility criteria, you will be automatically considered when you apply for a course at the university.

You must be an international, self-funded student paying full tuition fees.

If awarded a scholarship, you will be notified in your offer letter.
Scholarships for Undergraduate Students

Eligible international undergraduate students can receive up to £4,000 per year based on academic excellence.

The scholarship is available for every year of study, excluding placement years.
Scholarships for Postgraduate Students

Scholarships of up to £4,000 are available for international students applying for taught postgraduate courses.

To qualify, you must have obtained a minimum 2.1 undergraduate degree (or equivalent) and meet both academic and English language requirements for your chosen course.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for a merit-based scholarship, you must:
- Be an international fee-paying student.
- Be applying for a full-time, taught undergraduate or postgraduate program.
- Be fully self-funding your studies (i.e., not receiving external financial support).
- For postgraduate applicants: Hold a minimum 2.1 undergraduate degree (or equivalent) and meet the academic and English language entry requirements.
Courses NOT Eligible for Merit-Based Scholarships
- Master’s by Research programs – Please refer to Research Scholarships instead.
- Master’s with Placement (Huddersfield Business School).
- MA TESOL with Placement.
- PGCE courses (unless you do not qualify for a bursary).
Additional Conditions

If awarded, your scholarship details will be included in your offer letter.

The scholarship cannot be combined with any other University or external scholarship.

Students with refugee, asylum-seeker status, or indefinite leave to remain in the UK are not eligible.
